No-one is certain why Venus rotates so slowly that its day (one rotation of the planet) is longer than its year (one orbit around the sun).
It MAY be due to solar tidal effects in its tremendously thick atmosphere. That theory is supported by the fluctuations that have been seen in rotation rate over the few decades that records have been kept. However, it is far from meconclusively proven.
