Water get pollute due to many industrial activities such as release of some chemicals or heavy metals in the water bodies, such as mercury, lead, zinc, cobalt etc., they are phytotoxic ion nature, these heavy metals are presented in sediments then these reach tothe food chain through plantsand aquat5ic animals. So researcher found some plants which have the ability to decrease the concentration of certain chemicals.

Water plants such as water lilies (Salvinia molesta), wood lettuce (Pistia stratiotes), and water hyacinth (Eichornia crassipes) are some plants that have the ability to decrease heavy metals such as mercury.
