Answer:

Following are the principles of exchange of gases in Hydra and planarians:-

Since Hydra is made up of two layers, the body of hydra gets in direct contact with water therefore, making the exchange of gases taking place directly via cells of hydra and environment. This is called diffusion. However, in Planarians, they have very thin bodies which is why the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide takes directly through  its skin into the environment and this is known as diffusion as well.

Answer:

The process of exchange of gases in this process is known as diffusion. Some amount of energy is required for metabolism, and in any case all living things obtain energy for the function of metabolism. This helps them to synthesize carbohydrates and fats. In majority of living organisms, this process takes place through the process of respiration but in hydra and planarians that process is through diffusion.
