the process that is responsible is known as galvanisation . in this process the upper layer is covered with zinc coating . we paint iron objects because to cut the direct contact with the atmospheric air which contains moisture and that moisture if comes in direct contact with iron can cause into rusting . rusting is the process to form a surface compound that is reddish brown in colour on top of the metal
