I think there is not any particular process for such regulation.
In plants there is a Process namely Photosynthesis which regulated the amount of CO^2 and O^2 in the atmosphere.
Hope this will help yaa...

Photosynthesis is the process in plants that regulates the level of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere,
- The process of photosynthesis is carried out mostly by plants and algae and some types of bacteria. In this process, they capture energy from sunlight to produce oxygen () and chemical energy that is then stored in the form of glucose.
- During photosynthesis, plants take in carbon dioxide () and water () from the air and soil. During this process is oxidized, while the is reduced.
- Due to this water turns into oxygen and carbon dioxide into glucose. The plants release the oxygen back into the air, and stores energy as the glucose molecules.
