When lead nitrate is heated simply, the type of reaction taking place will be thermal decompostition reaction. Lead nitrate is a white coloured compound, when it is heated it decomposes to give;lead oxide, nitrogen dioxide and oxygen.

The balanced equation for the reaction is:-

2Pb(NO3)2⟶ 2PbO + 4NO2 + O2
