Dehydration
is the reaction in which water molecule
Dehydrations are of two types, intermolecular and intramolecular. H₂SO₄ can be used as a dehydrating agent.e.g. Dehydration of alcohols is one of the finest examples of it.Acid donates proton to alcohol and hence protonated alcohol is obtained.Which in turn loses water to form carbocation, this on deprotonation gives alkene.H₂SO₄ bring about dehydration.
