Helen Keller compares her teacher , Miss Sullivan to 'light of love' in chapter four of 'The Story Of My Life'. This comparison itself speaks about what Helen thought about her teacher. However, Helen didn't feel the same about her teacher since her advent in her life. There were lots of obstacles to be overcome before Helen allowed herself to be taught by her teacher. At the beginning, Helen was quite intractable; she defied almost everything her teacher asked her to do; she even locked her once and hid the key somewhere. But Miss Sullivan was a determined lady who had true compassion in her heart for Helen; she was well versed in the art and skills of imparting education to the blind children. Besides being an exceptional teacher, she was very patient and understanding. She through her patience and love opened Helen's inner eyes to the beauty of the world. Helen liked her so much later, that she became her constant companion. She was always there standing by her through the trials of life. No doubt, Helen had such a deep influence of her teacher on her personality.
