For capabilities of light gathering process Numerical aperture is used which is basically used to calculate the light which is of a lens.
The n.a of each lens is in metal cube and the ranges of each N.A is 0.25-1.4.
The light gathering properties depends on the range of N.A .Higher the better will be the resolution.
Higher N.A also works on shorter working distances.
