Hey mate!!!

➖▶️Tollens' test, also known as silver-mirror test, is a qualitative laboratory test used to distinguish between an aldehyde and a ketone. It exploits the fact that aldehydes are readily oxidized (see oxidation), whereas ketones are not.

The following tests are used to distinguish between aldehydes & ketones :

★ Fehling's solution test : Aldehyde on heating with Fehling's solution gives red ppt (percipitate).

★ Tollen's reagent Test : Aldehydes on heating with Tollen's agent giving a shining silver mirror, ketones don't give this test.
