It was the Muslim religious group which faced increased discrimination immediately after the 9/11 terror attack and till date.

Though all the Muslim religious and political leaders condemned the attack but it didn't help the Muslims in any way. They were targeted and lynched openly, mostly in the west. Their institutions and businesses were targeted. They had to face discrimination in employment, in finding a house etc. In 2002, FBI reported "incidents targeting people, institutions and businesses identified in some way with Islam increased by at least 1,600 percent."
