In the antiquated period between 1300 to 1400 AD, after the breaking down of Katyuri kingdom of Uttarakhand, eastern locale of Uttarakhand (Kumaon and Far-Western Region of Nepal which was a piece of Uttarakhand at that point), isolated into eight diverse royal states i.e., "Baijnath-Katyuri, Dwarhat, Doti, Baramandal, Askot, Sira, Sora, Sui (Kali kumaon)".
As the revolt called “Bardoli of Kumaon” took place in state called Askot it is called as Askot revolt.
