A perennial river is a river which flows throughout the year and are also known as permanent rivers. They can be contrasted with non-perennial or seasonal rivers which have water flow only during certain periods of the year or have intermittent flow. There is no requirement as to the minimum level of water to be maintained in order for a river to be a perennial river. Examples of perennial rivers include Ganga, Yamuna, Brahmaputra etc.
