Evidence attesting to prehistoric religion in the Indian subcontinent derives from scattered Mesolithic rock paintings. The Harappan people of the Indus Valley Civilisation, which lasted from 3300 to 1300 BCE (mature period, 2600–1900 BCE), had an early urbanized culture which predates the Vedic religion

1.Most of the Indian rivers have religious recognition and some of them are Ganga, Yamuna, Godavari and Kaveri.

2. Though India is recognised as a secular country 90% of people are of religious beliefs and practices of their religious rituals regularly.

3. And according to Hindu dharma it is taught that but in sacred rivers like Ganga Yamuna Godavari and Krishna one can get rid of all his sins and his soul becomes pure.

4. In addition to above mentioned rivers Tungabhadra Kaveri and Brahmaputra are also considered as Holy rivers.
