Deccan plateau is the largest peninsular plateau in India.


The northwestern part of the plateau is comprising lava flows or igneous rocks commonly termed as the Deccan Traps.


The rocks are dominates the states of :


1) Maharashtra and


2) Parts of Gujarat and


3) Madhya Pradesh, Resulting one of the biggest provinces in volcanic natureglobally.


It consists basalt lava enormous deposit of basalt rock over two thousand 2,000 metres of flat-lying and covers about 5 lakh square kilometres in west-central Indian zone.Basalt rock is the predominant deposit.
