• To live without contributing to the world at all would be nearly impossible in today’s environment, as that would mean that you would need to live alone in a situation in which you neither give nor trade anything at all, yet yu still survive by taking. An example of this would be a hunter-gatherer, who does not practice any religion nor baiting in their traps.
• To end the life would mean to end any and all opportunity for yourself. Your role, thus, would be to become a fertilizer for the ground (or ashes) and a burden to those who have to take responsibility for disposing of your body.
• To live while contributing to the world means that you are making a difference, for better or worse, and your role is greatly expanded to become a link in a society, in an ecosystem, and in history. Being a link means that you are part of a bigger picture of a developing world. Alone, a human’s role is extremely small, but joined together with other humans the individual human becomes a link in a mighty chain which can change things in the world. For example, alone a human can only hope to survive and change their immediate surroundings; but joined together with other humans, that one human can possibly become a leader and change the way that an entire population of humans acts towards their environment, their technological advances, their population size, and so much more.
