Qutb-ud-din Aibak

Qutb-ud-din Aibak who was the ruler under the Delhi Sultanate was given the name LakshBaksh due to the generosity he showed by giving away money. The word LakshBaksh means the Giver of Lakhs as he was known to be quite generous and gave away lakshs of rupees of charity purposes etc.

He knew the importance of money and the ill-treatment among the slaves as he himself was a ruler in the Mamluk (Slave) Dynasty. Therefore, he used to give away a lot of money out of generosity.

  • Muhammad Ghori was the predecessor of Qutb-ud-din Aibak and his successor of Aram Shah.
  • He is the grandfather of the only woman sultan - Raziya.
  • Aibak became the sultan when Ghori was killed in the battlefied in 1206.
  • He reigned the Sultanate from 1206 to 1210.
