Carbon-14 dating method is used to determine the age of soil layers where properties like radiocarbon and radioactive of carbon is used. This method is only applicable to organic and inorganic materials but not applicable to metals. A

ge of soil layers can be estimated by measuring the amount of carbon -14 which is present in a sample and this data can be compared with standard international data. Basic method used is liquid scintillation counting.
