Which scientist rejected the theory of Spontaneous Generation?
Answers
Answer:
The Scientists that rejected the theory of spontaneous generation include;
Francesco Redi, an Italian physician and poet
An Italian priest, Lazzaro Spallanzani
French chemist, Louis Pasteur
Explanation:
The theory of spontaneous regeneration speculated that life could be created from non living objects. This theory was widely accepted in the past but was however later rejected and disapproved by scientists such as Redi, Pasteur and Lazzaro.
The first scientist to reject the theory was Francesco Redi but the one to actually lay the case to rest was the French Chemist Louis Pasteur.
Louis Pasteur put in together experiments that were used by both Redi and Lazzaro and showed that spontaneous generation was not possible.
Pasteur used a flask where he placed boiled meet and bended the neck in a manner that microbes from air could not reach the beef by settling through gravity. The beef did not cloud or form broth after time. In this manner. Pasteur proved that broth was only formed because of the pathogens in the air and consequently disapproved the theory of spontaneous generation.
