The Jiva which is bound in the Prakriti is Brahman itself, is mentioned in the Hindu Upanishads .

Upanishads are referred to as Vedanta, that contains some of the Central Philosophical Theories and Concepts of Hinduism. Jiv in the Upanishads refers to live or to be alive, therefore, Jeeva means one who has lived or is alive. Prakriti, on the other hand, is Nature ( which according to Hinduism, is the primary source of knowledge by which the Universe survives and operates). The concepts of Brahman and Ātman are central beliefs in all of the Upanishads. Therefore Brahman is called the true God, who is omnipresent.

This teaching can be found in the Hindi Scriptures called: Upanishads

Upanishads teaches us that Jiva is himself a Brahaman, the highest hindu caste.

Upanishads make up one part of the important Hindu religious scripters which also include the Gita and the Vedas.

All of these are some of the oldest collections of religous text.
