The energy sector is believed to have emerged to be the largest contributor of the GHG (greenhouse gases).

It accounts for two-thirds of the total GHG emissions, followed by the agriculture, which is 20 percent and the industrial processes.

As per the report, India’s gas emissions in the year 2000 was at 1.3 billion tonnes of CO2 equivalent.
