Which sentence expresses the significance of this place to the writer? I grew up in Norwood, Massachusetts. It is a town known for being in the book of world records for having the most "townies," among other things. Townies are people who spend their entire lives in a town and never move away. I went to school with a few students who were blood relatives to the founders of Norwood, making them true "Norwoodians." It was great having a true sense of home in Norwood, but being just 20 minutes south of Boston meant that we had easy access to the train by taking the bus to the Forest Hills train station. Oh, how I can recall the bus ride from Norwood into Boston, through Dedham, West Roxbury, and Roslindale. Those days were filled with seeing the tree-lined suburbs race away stop after stop, as we got closer to the city. Being able to hop on the "T", that is what we called the subway, brought sheer joy to me as a high school student, with the new-found freedom to hang out in the city. When I reached Boston, I would get off on the orange line and walk around Downtown Crossing and marvel at how big the city was compared to what downtown Norwood looked like. There were options. Different foods, all types of stores, and I could never get enough of it. I travel back to Boston often and when I do, I always make sure to get on the "T" at Forest Hills and take the swift ride into Downtown Crossing and relive my younger days.
