For the separation of the light materials from heavy materials we can follow:
1. WINNOWING : The heavy materials like rice and other grains can be separated from husk by this method. In this method the separator should stand at a certain height and make the grains to fall on floor. The husk will be carried by wind to one side and other side the grains fall.
2. WASHING : This method is used for separating the heavy metals from ore. The metal with impurities is crushed and kept on a slopy surface and there will be a continue flow of water . The water carry out the light weight impurities and the heavy materials stay there. .
