Sodium chloride is common salt or table salt which is actually formed by the neutralisation process of Hydrochloric acid and Sodium hydroxide.

It is soluble in water and can be separated by the process of Evaporation where the water gets evaporate leaving the salt behind because Sodium chloride is not volatile.

In large scale, You might have seen Evaporation process being done in shallow pits near sea shores because sea water is 5-6% saline. The salt obtained is purified and refined to produce the salt that can be consumed.
