• On Dec 19, 1929, Under the leadership of Jawaharlal Nehru, the Indian National Congress during the Lahore session declared Poorna Swaraj as its foremost objective.
• During this session, members decided that the Congress and Indian nationalists should fight for Poorna Swaraj, or that they should rule themselves independently.
• Motion for complete independence was passed by congress on Lahore session which resulted in hoisting the National flag on Dec 31 at midnight on the banks of river Ravi.
• This was the first time when our country's tricolored flag was unfurled.
• Hence Congress decided to observe Jan 26, 1930, as Poorna Swaraj day or complete independence day.
• It was during this session that Congress decided to boycott the Round Table Conference.
