Alluvial soil is described on the basis of age.

Alluvial soil is found in Indo-Gangetic plain. This soil is good for crop growth, is fertile and rich in minerals and nutrients.

On the basis of age, classification of alluvial soil is into two parts namely, khaddar and bhangar.

The new soil between these is khaddar. It is lighter in colour and is more fertile comparatively.

The old soil is bhangar. It contains lime nodules and is darker in colour.
