The type of volcano will determine the type of lava erupted. Composite or strato volcanoes as well as cinder cones, emit aa lava which is full of gas and often breaks up to form ash particles. These shoot up into the air and land on the sides of the volcano. They also produce blocky lava ie cooled blocks of lava -some big, some small which move slowly and tend to stay on the volcano slopes,Supervolcanoes are calderas, which are collapsed stratvolcanoes, which have the explosive type of lava.
