(a) Sirius is located by Orion constellation:

  • The Orion constellation is visible on late evening during winter.
  • The brightest start in Orion are Rigel which is blue white in color and Betelgeuse which is red in color. But, it generally has eight brightest stars.
  • In Greek mythology, Orion means hunter.
  • When imaginary line is drawn through three stars in middle and seen through the line in east direction, it leads to a bright star.
  • This star is called Sirius.

(b) Pole Star is located by Ursa Major Constellation:

  • The Ursa Major Constellation is called as Big Dipper of the Great Beat.
  • This constellation has seven prominent stars.
  • When imaginary line is drawn through two stars at the end of the Ursa Major and looked towards North direction. It leads to a star called pole star.
  • Pole star is not a bright star.
