Concept

Linear inequalities are the expressions where any two values are compared by the inequality symbols such as, ‘<’, ‘>’, ‘≤’ or ‘≥’.

Given

We have been given a picture of linear inequality equation and 4 options which are following:-

1.There is no solution because the shading does not overlap.

2.There is no solution because the graphs do not intersect.

3.The solution contains points in four quadrants of the coordinate plane.

4.The solution is equal to the solution to mc025-2.jpg.

Find

We are asked to determine the correct option for given inequalities.

Solution

Graphing inequalities allows us to see graphs of  ordinary linear functions. But for linear functions the graph is the line and for inequalities the graph is the area of the coordinate plane satisfying the inequality.

Hence, as we can see from the graph there is no intersection between graph so, there is no solution for the given pair of inequalities.

Therefore, the correct answer is option (2) which is there is no solution because the graphs do not intersect.
