How the Mac computer gets around the world

Globalization is what connects the world. It is powered by three main elements new technologies, decreasing transportation cost, and the amount of trade. New technologies lets us do things for a cheaper price and allows us to communicate with people all around the world. The decrease in transportation costs have allowed many countries to do more trading has made countries more reliant on each other for materials. Multiy nation corporations are taking over by producing goods in a process of going country to country. There are four types of globalization. Economic deals with how the world economy is changing from countries working together to make products and do business. Technological is how are technology is evolved and how easy it has made it to communicate and trade. Environmental is how countries are using resources from other countries for there own needs. Finally there is cultural that shows how diverse cultures are becoming more rare because everyone is connected.

Globalization

Copper is mined from Chile.

The mined copper goes through a smelter in Sweden which will then be shipped to China for processing.

Tantalum, the metal used to make capacitors, is mined in Australia. This is what stores the electrical charges.

The mined tantalum is then processed in Pennsylvania. Then this material will also be shipped to China.

The materials from around the world are sent to China to be manufactured.

Potential problems

Copper and Tantalum mines can have several problems. Mining is a dangerous job were workers work for long times and earn little pay. Mining can cause pollution in the surrounding area. Mining also consumes a great deal of energy.

Solutions

A solution to all this hard mining is not simple. A start could be that Apple could find different materials to make their computers out of that is easier to get. Another solution is making mining conditions safer and wages higher. Once the computers life is finished all the parts of it can be recycled for later use.

From what i have gathered from the map it shows that the process of making a mac begins in several countries were the resources are acquired and the shipped to other places to be manufactured and sold.

Procedure

First natural resources are mined in small countries. They are then shipped to bigger countries such as Sweden were they are processed, finally they are sent to China were they are built. Then the computer will be shipped to the U.S. to be sold.

How it applies to me

Globalization affects me by allowing me to use technology and buy products. I effect globalization as a consumer by buying what others have made.

Good and Bad

Globalization is good for me because i can have good technology

and accesses information. The bad is its polluting the air around me and causing people to work hard to make products that I buy.
