GIVEN :

The functions f and g is defined by f(x)=-7x and g(x)=7x

TO FIND :

The statement which describes the domain and range of f(x) and g(x).

SOLUTION :

From the given the function f from a set A to a set B is a relation that assigns to each element x in the set A exactly one element in the set B. The set A is the domain of the function and the set B contains the range (or co-domain)

For f(x)=-7x

It is a straight line with negative slope and does not intersect the y-axis.

∴ the statement best describes is the domain and the range of f(x) is the set of all real numbers.

For g(x)=7x

It is also a straight line but it has positive slope. It does not intersect the y-axis

∴ the statement that best describes is the domain and the range of g(x) is the set of all real numbers.

∴the statement that best describes is the domain and the range of f(x) and g(x) is the set of all real numbers.
