Thanks for asking the question!

Let me clear the question what you asked which is as follows::

Which statement defines calorimeter?
(a) a device that measures the heat that is gained or lost in a chemical change
(b)a device that measures the potential energy of an element
(c)a device that is used to measure heat capacity
(d)a device that is used to measure temperature

ANSWER::

(a) a device that measures the heat that is gained or lost in a chemical change

Extra information - Calorimeter is an object which is used for calorimetry or as said above it is a device that measures the heat that is gained or lost in a chemical change or physcial changes or heat capacity.
A simple calorimeter consists of a thermometer which is attached to a metal container in which water is fully suspended above the combustion chamber.

This device is used in study of thermodynamics in chemistry etc.

There are different types of calorimeters:-

1.Scanning calorimeters
2.Isothermal Micro Calorimeters
3.Titration Calorimeters
4.Accelerated Rate Calorimeters

Hope it helps!
