The phrase "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness," was an idea first contemplated by Locke in his Two Treatises on Government which influenced the Thomas Paine's common sense

Locke believed that social nature enabled people to be greedy. This is plausible due to the initiation of monetary currency. In a fundamental state, all individuals are equal and independent, and everyone had a fundamental right to defend his " health, Liberty, Life or Ownership".

Common Sense is a compilation written by Thomas Paine in 1775–76 supporting sovereignty from Great Britain to citizens in the Thirteen Colonies. This compilation is inspired by Locke's idea of Fundamental rights for citizens of the country. Paine had disposed of all ethical and legislative reasoning in his compilation to inspire common people in these Colonies to struggle for their Rights and impartial government.
