Which steps could be used to solve this story problem?
Krissy had 32 bagels. She gave an equal number of bagels to each child. There were 5 boys and 3 girls.
How many bagels did the girls get altogether?
Add 5 and 3. Then multiply the sum by 32.
Add 5 and 3. Divide 32 by this sum. Then multiply the quotient by the number of girls.
Subtract 3 from 5. Then divide 32 by the difference.
Multiply 32 by 5. Multiply 32 by 3. Add the two products together.
Answers
1} Given, total bangles = 32
A.T.Q,
she gave equal bangles to each child
and there were 5 boys and 3 girls
Then, total children = 5 + 3 = 8
On dividing 32 by 8 ,we get
32/8 = 4
So, she gave 4 bangles to each child.
There were total 3 girls,
So, each child got 4 bangles
Then, 3 girls get 4+4+4= 16 bangles
2} On adding 5 and 3, we get
5 + 3 = 8
On multiplying their sum which was 8 by 32 , we get
8 × 32 = 256
3} Again, on adding 5 and 3, we get
5 + 3 = 8
On dividing 32 by their sum, we get
32/8 = 4
and the quotient we get is 4
On multiplying the quotient by the number of girls, we get
4 × 3 = 12
4} On subtracting 3 from 5, we get
5 - 3 = 2
Then, on dividing 32 by their difference, we get
32/2 = 16
5} On multiplying 32 by 5, we get
32×5 = 160
Then, on multiplying 32 by 3, we get
32×3 = 96
On adding their products together, we get
160+96 = 256
Hope it will help you, mate. :)
