Six ways the government is pushing for women's empowerment in India  :

2] Mahila Shakti Kendra

3] Working Women Hostel

4] Support to Training and Employment Programme for Women (STEP)

Answer:

Some of the measures taken by the government to uplift the status of women in the country are as follows: -

(a) It was ensured in the Constitution of India through the directive principles of State policy that wages given to women would be equal to that of men for similar nature of work.

(b) Education for women became compulsory at the primary level. Women’s education is subsidized and female students are granted with many incentives in many states.

(c) A fixed quota in professional education and employment has been reserved for women candidates.

(d) The Hindu Marriage Act was amended in 1956 and remarriages of widows was given legal safeguard.

(e) Under the Child Marriage Restraint Act, it is now illegal for a girl child to be married under the age of 18. The Maternity Benefit Act was enacted for the healthcare of both mother and child.

(f) Women were given the right to vote under Universal Adult Franchise in 1950.

(g) The amendment to the Hindu Law of Inheritance and passing of the Hindu Code Bill paved the way for enactment of Kamala Act. Under this Act, not only sons but daughters are also entitled to an equal share of their parental property.

(h) The enactment of Anti-dowry Act empowered the women against greedy husbands and in-laws.
