- Air Pollution is caused by the presence of high proportion of Sulphur-di-oxide and Carbon-monoxide in air.
- Burning Fossil fuels in Big and small industries emit smoke.
- Chemical and Paper factories, Refineries, Smelting plants - also emit smoke ignoring Pollution norms.
- Toxic Gas leaks like Bhopal Gas Tragedy can be very hazardous with long term effects.
- Air Pollution causes Respiratory problems to Humans.
- It adversely affects Animals, Plants & Atmosphere as a whole.
We can reduce Air Pollution in the following ways:
- Factories should be fitted with Chimneys that have Electrostatic Precipitators, Inertial Separators, Filters, etc... to reduce Particulate matter in Air.
- Thermal Power plants should use Oil or Gas instead of Coal to reduce Smoke.
- Thermal Power Plants should maximise Ash Utilisation by making 'Ash Pond' and use this ash-water to cool their machines, thus efficiently re-cycling Ash-water.
