Which stream is to be taken for investment banking?

During my studies, I noticed half if not more were all wanting to get into investment banking. Many of the students I knew got in through the IBC in the Netherlands, or banks like Goldman and JP Morgan literally visiting the campus who nearly begged for people to hand in their CVs after a guest lecture.
