As other have already said it's an uncertain future and already crowded with many talented and untalented people trying to be successful.

While I can't really encourage you or discourage you without really knowing you I can help you understand why other people discourage you from pursuing a career in music.

For your parents or whoever is in charge of you it's a pretty scary situation. It's not that they don't want you to be happy, it's that with other career choices you may have available they have some degree of certainty that you'll be able to stand on your own two feet, job safety, etc. When you tell them you want to make music instead it takes that certainty away from them. And it's scary. They don't want to see you fail, so they advice you against it.

For everyone else, even if you were the most talented person ever, you're still just another 16 year old kid who plays the guitar and knows his way around DAWs that decided that he wants to desicate his life to music. You are at an age were you just lack credibility. You fit into the stereotype of a teenager who thinks he knows everything about the workings of the world and just knows that he can be super successful in field "X". You might sound like a kid shouting at the world "Hey guys, Im gonna be a DJ!". It might be undeserved for you or not, I can't really say, but that's a big reason why people around you discourage you from pursuing a career in music.

This may sound harsh, but know that I'm not trying to discourage you or encourage you.

In any case, my advice is: Stop talking so much about wanting to do music. Make music instead and only talk about it, in extent if you want to, when you have something to show. Music will speak truer than words.
