Explanation:

CaO2 +H2O. ------> Ca(OH)2 +∆

(quick lime). (slaked lime)

when applied on walls,

slaked lime reacts with CO2 in the atmosphere

and changes to CaCO3+ H2O

This substance gives white finish to walls. The water formed evaporates .

Answer: Slaked lime is used for whitewashing the wall.

The reaction involved in this process is given below:-

CaO(s)+ H2O(l) ---------> Ca(OH)2(s)

It gives us calcium hydroxide and produces a large amount of heat.

After applying it on the wall we get calcium carbonate and water as it reacts with carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

Ca(OH)2(aq) ----------> Ca(CO3)2(s)+ H2O(l)
