an insulator is any material that prevents the transmission of electricity, heat, or sound. Electrical insulators prevent electrons from moving through a substance. This keeps electricity on the correct and most efficient path in our homes. Plastic, wood and glass are good electrical insulators.

Substance which don't allow electric current to pass through them ie. they don't have free electrons to conduct electricity
