In India, both systems of voting is followed. Proportional representation is followed for the elections of the President, Vice-President, Rajya sabha, vidhan parishad.
While, for the rest like election of the prime minister,  FPTP is followed.

The first-past-the-post electoral system of election is followed by India.


In this system, the person with the majority of votes will win the election in the lower house – Parliament and states.


Whereas the member of the upper house or Rajya Sabha are elected by the state legislative assemblies on the proportional representation basis.
