Federal divides authorities appropriately ,the central government is more powerful under a unitary state. Following federalism results in equal opportunities, human equality, political stability, etc.

  • A federal constitution divides authority between the central government and the states.
  • States do not serve as the center's subordinates.
  • Prof. Wheare cites the Swiss, Australian, and American constitutions as excellent instances of federal constitutions.

Despite some clauses that consolidate power, Dr. Ambedkar firmly asserted during talks in the Constituent Assembly that the Indian Constitution is basically federal. However, Prof. Wheare and some other academics prefer to refer to it as "quasi-federal" or "federal with significant centralising tendency" instead of calling it a federal constitution.
