Question

which system was made by wellesselly?

Answer

Subsidiary Alliance

Explanation and facts

the subsidiary alliance system followed by lord Wellesley played a major role in British expansion, sometimes by force and sometimes without any war. The treaty was signed between the English east india company and Indian ruler. According to the terms of this treaty the Indian ruler had to allow the permanent stationing of British troops in his state to protect him from his enemies. The cost of the maintenance of the troop was to be borne by the Indian rulers. He was not allowed to employ any independent non British troop. Thus the rulers signing this treaty became dependent upon the British for his protection and the British where able to employ a large force paid by the Indian rulers.
