Given :  36x³−22x² −__

To Find : Which term can be used in the blank  so the greatest common factor of the resulting polynomial is 2x

2

4xy

12x

24

44y

Solution:

36x³−22x² −__

= 2x²( 18x  - 11)  - ()

Hence  in the blank term will come containing 2x   as factor    (and no x²)

4xy = 2x . 2y

Hence 4xy can come in blank

= 2x²( 18x  - 11)  - (4xy)

= 2x( 18x² - 11x - 2y)

12x = 2x * 6

Hence 12x can also come

= 2x²( 18x  - 11)  - (12x)

= 2x( 18x² - 11x - 6)

2 , 24 and 44y does not have x   so not possible

4xy and 12x  are correct options.
