Given :

a= 53

d= 48 - 53 = -5

Let nth term be the first negative term of the given AP.

Now,

 t_{n} =  \:  a + (n - 1)d \\

=53+(n-1) d

=53+ (n-1) × -5

= 53 - 5n + 5

= 58 - 5n

Now,

58 = 5n

n \:  =  \frac{58}{5}

but this will. not be able to find the negative term.

Let n be 12 .

 t_{n} \:  =  \: 58 - 5(12) \\  = 58 - 60  \\  =  - 2

So, -2 is the first negative term.
