given that:

a=3 ; d= 1-3 = -2 ; a(n) = -23 ; n= ?

=> a(n) = a+(n-1)×d

=> -22 = 3+ (n-1)×(-2)

=> -22 - 3 = (n-1) ×(-2)

=> -25 = (n-1) ×(-2)

=> 25÷2 = n-1

=> 12.5 + 1= n

=> n = 13.5
