Explanation:

I started off with HC Verma and found it too easy to solve. I believe only the last 5–10 subjective questions and all objective questions should be done from this book. Other questions are simply just :

Use the formula.

Substitute values.

Get the answer.

I will recommend HCV to those who find it tough to memorise all formulas. For them, its a gem. :)

After I got bored with HCV, I checked on the internet and got to know about Irodov. I asked from some of my teachers and immediately purchased it (just 60 rupees :P).

But I didn`t know that its just a problems book. No theory at all. I started off with some problems and initially found it tough to solve most problems but after solving first 50 questions (and asking almost 15 as doubts), I became comfortable with the difficulty level of the book. I completed mechanics from it. But the biggest problem of Irodov is that most of the problem are Bsc level problems. You can not solve the whole book and the part which is recommended for JEE aspirants, its too less and pretty tough too. For JEE, you don`t need to solve that tough problems.

After that I again became a wanderer. Then after a few days, I got to know about Resnick Halliday. Its a nice book for those who want to read theory but better be aware that its going to take much of your time. It has almost 1200 pages. Added to this is the problem that it does not contain answers of all the problems. Only odd numbered questions have their answers at back and from my point of view, if you can`t confirm your answers, there is not much point of solving a book.

So after roaming around so much in need of a good physics book. I finally found my love. :) <3

It was this (DC pandey). I purchased the first edition when my class 12th started. I used it to revise mechanics and I found that not only its having appropriate and enough theory along with my class notes, it contains some good quality problems too.

Slowly and slowly , I purchased all 5 of them and started solving them. I didn`t solve it completely. I focused on chapters where I had more doubts or more problem.

Like I completed whole first part because my mechanics was weak then.

I completed all chapters of Thermodynamics from it.

Solved all the chapters of Current/Capacitor/Magnetism.

And finally completed all the chapters of 5th part too (Optics + Modern Physics).

I highly recommend DC Pandey to those specially, who have a fear of Physics in their mind.

Its definitely going to be worth your expenditure on it.

Note - Those who have a problem that I should have written about DC pandey in a straightforward manner without narrating such a story. So my answer for them is that I only did this because I felt that you guys should know pros and cons of each book and how DC Pandey is a better alternative.

More Important Note - I share no relations with DC pandey so I am not going to get any profit even if you purchase it.

hope it helps
