There are absolute temperature scales related to the second law of thermodynamics. The absolute scale related to the Celsius scale is called the Kelvin (K) scale, and that related to the Fahrenheit scale is called the Rankine (°R) scale.

Thermodynamics studies how the state functions can be statistically related to the individual microscopic components of the systems. These microscopic components can either be described classically, or quantum mechanically, depending on what limit we are in.
