It's a pretty generic question, and no answer can be given for sure. First, the campus is going to have a topology and the data-center another one.

While in the campus we often see the classic three-tiered architecture, or spine-and-leaf in new deployments, the Data Center is much more complex. It might works with advanced technologies such as IS-IS Mac address routing (fabric path if you speak Cisco jargon).

Now, the real difference of financial companies it compared to others is the higher level of security. As an example, I've often seen firewalls in a sandwich, two firewalls of different vendors one after the other in such a way that one filters traffic coming from outside, passes it to the other to apply other filters and receive it back for applying a third level of filtering.
