The honesty in John's character attract me the most. John A Pescud was an honest man. Despite the warning by Jessie, John went to see the colonel. He honestly told him that he had followed his daughter from Cincinnati and wanted to be introduced to her. Honestly can be defined as truthfulness in speech and action. In every day life, being truthful means listening to and obeying the voice of our conscience. Honesty reveals our character, it gives us freedom from being false. The majority of people appreciate an honest person each and every time. Therefore "Honesty is the best policy".
One more thing that I liked in Pescud was his true love. As he had followed the girl till Cincinnati and also gave her the beautiful flower.
